Our Legacy

We have invested so much of ourselves into developing our line of setters. Brock and I have both shared in the passion and a vision for where we want these dogs to go. We are at a point where we either needed to downsize or think past ourselves and plan a future for what we are raising.

Things seem to have happened at the right time for the right reason. We both had backgrounds with equines so knew how important structure and conformation were in movement and efficiency. We purchased “rymans” for their hunting style and personality and over the years combined the attributes from bench dogs that have strengthened weaknesses while maintaining what we loved about the “rymans”.

Our first two dogs produced incredible offspring. From them we began this journey. When we brought in our first bench dog “Emma” we were lucky enough to find Sarah, who introduced us to the show world. There we learned to look at the dogs with a more critical eye and learn the importance of each bit and piece to the dog as a whole.

When we were in the market for a new male we were searching in the “ryman” community. We were close to purchasing a dog that had been represented to us as a “ryman”, that turned out to be half Llewelyn. Sarah knew we were looking for a male and that very day sent me pictures of puppy “Brandon” and said he had something special about him. Seemed like fate and we soon brought him home. What a ride he took us on, clear to Nationals, always in the ribbons! He had impeccable movement, incredible hunting drive and a wonderful personality. He has exponentially impacted our line!! When we bred him into the “rymans” the sum of the parents was exceeded by their offspring.

Several years ago Jordan and Jessie Madding purchased a dog from us and their love of our dogs was born. That soon followed up with another FSK dog. Over the years our friendship has developed and so has their passion for the dogs. Even before we knew they had an interest in breeding they had a thirst for knowledge.

We plan to continue breeding for another 10 years or so and then have complete confidence that Jordan and Jessie share the same vision that we do for the dogs. They really have given us a gift. We can keep planning and dreaming about where these dogs will go in the future and keep building a strong foundation.

Jordan and Jessie took a leap of faith with us. They have invested in kennels and countless other things to get started. We have moved some dogs down to them and this year they will begin having a litter or two under our guidance. We’ve enjoyed sharing what we have learned over the years, discussing why we make the breeding decisions we do, and all the other things that go into this.

We have lots of time to mentor and collaborate. Brock and I will always be a part of these dogs, but our deepest hope is that this line of “ryman” type dogs will live on for generations to come.

We know they will be in good hands!!
