BAER Tested Puppies
Lots of TLC
Current on Vaccines and Wormings
Well Socialized
Dew Claws Removed
We raise our pups in a family environment. They get tons of attention and are introduced to lots of different things as they grow. The pups are well socialized and the transition into their new homes should be an easy one. They will be sleeping in crates overnight by the time they leave us at 9 weeks of age. They will be current on all vaccines and wormings, dew claws removed, and BAER tested.
Milestones your puppy will reach while in our care.
Add the birth of the puppies and at 3 days dew claws are removed.
also add a section for 9 weeks when the puppies are picked up and start their new life!!!
also add a section for 8 weeks and why you evaluate pups at that age.
Everyone looks forward to the birth of the puppies.
During the first week or so they stay in the nest, for warmth, nursing, sleeping, and nurture. On day 3 the pups have their dew claws removed.
10 to 14 days of age.
At 10 to 14 days of age the pups will open their eyes and begin to hear.. everyone loves this age, over the next couple of weeks it is a great time for even the very young kids to enjoy the puppies.
Between 3 to 3.5 weeks of age is when they will get their first taste of gruel. This will change over the next couple of weeks and by the time they are 6 weeks old they will be on dry food. They are getting active and begin to get mobile.
At 6 weeks of age the pups are officially weaned. This is an important period in their life as they will begin to learn about bite inhibition, both from each other and the older dogs that are here. They need to learn their place in the world and to respect their elders. They begin sleeping in crates with their littermates at night. So when they go to their new homes they will understand that when you go in a crate, you should just lay down and relax. They get their first vaccination at 6 weeks of age
We wait until 8 weeks of age to choose the pups we will add to our breeding program. What you see at 8 weeks is the best snapshot you have of the proportions that the puppies will have when they are grown. Before this time they are just bundles of love, growing, getting color and their personalities are emerging!! After 8 weeks they will start getting tall and lanky and go thru their teenage stage. Because we get first choice of the pups individual pups may not be chosen until this time.
Around 7 weeks they go to the Fetch Lab in Cincinnati for BAER testing. This is a big long day for them and their first extended ride in a vehicle.
At 9 weeks it is time for the pups to get their very own families
They get their second vaccination before they leave our home, and sometime in the last week or two they have been microchipped. Yes, all of our puppies are bar coded - it’s the owners responsibility to register the chip. We us AKC Reunite and you can register your chip here. (Attach link)
