The breeding of dogs is like a big puzzle. We have an infinite number of pieces to choose from. Some pieces work well and some don’t. When building a puzzle you are looking at color and shape to see what piece might work. With the dogs we are looking at so many variables. Health, genetics, personality, hunting style and conformation. No dog is perfect but we are trying to match dogs to mate that will amplify the things we admire in each dog and hopefully improve the attributes that need work.

It’s been a rewarding process and we are pleased with the line of dogs that we are producing. We are always in the process of hunting for new pieces of the puzzle. With Brandon we hit a home run. He was able to put a real positive stamp on all of his offspring. He was a good match for most all of our girls. Now we are having to be more selective. You throw the dice whenever you bring in new dogs to add to your line. You wait to see what is produced, you keep puppies and you watch and dream as they develop and mature.

Even though our hopes are always high, not all the dogs we have develop into dogs that we can fit into our puzzle. Some may only fit in one way, others give you more options. But everyday we are looking and evaluating. This is an ongoing puzzle.
